Aug 23, 2010 - heard anything on Kold Ster-il water treatment units by the polypad guys??? they seem very effective without any waste water.....I hate how much my RO/DI unit wastes.....u can always use the grey water for laundry..... Dig the Tidal Wave tee!!!!

lafishguy Says:

Aug 23, 2010 - hey Jeremy, i wondered if anyone would notice the TW shirt. I used polypads years ago and I just have a hard time believing they can produce the same quality of water as an RO or DI. did that half round aquarium set-up come through yet?

Aug 25, 2010 - For some odd reason your new videos don't show up on my home page. GRRRR

willywalken Says:

Aug 26, 2010 - Hey Jim, Where I live (Dayton, OH) I give the water company an estimate on how much water I use on aquariums. They assume all water is going down the drain and you're mainly being charged for sanitation. If you pipe your RO waste line to your yard and give them an honest estimate on how much water doesn't actually go down the drain. They may adjust your bill. They do that for me.

viclizarraga Says:

Aug 26, 2010 - Jim- With all that water being wasted from RO system, you might want to collect it and water your lawn( for green lawn). That makes make scene to me has a home owner.

lafishguy Says:

Aug 29, 2010 - hey P, i've had mine for years. check on-line, for a couple hundred you can get a good one.

Nov 7, 2010 - Don't waist the water. Put the exit hose on the garden. Great nutrients for plants due to the concentration of different ions plants love.

Dec 25, 2011 - Im really in need of help lafishguy. I have a 180g tank now and im trying to decide what type of fish and the amount i should put into the tank. I want tangs and other colorful or interesting fish to go with them. I also wanted them to be reefsafe. My question is are there any tangs i can get that will not outgrow the 180 and how many can i fit in a tank that size? I plan to add all the tangs at once. And also what other fish can i add along with them to make this tank fun and great to look at?

lafishguy Says:

Dec 25, 2011 - hey H, consider some clownfish, dwarf angels, gobies and blennies. make sure to add the tangs last and at the same time to avoid territorialism issues.

hollabacknow8557 Says:

Dec 25, 2011 - oh right now i have 4 purcula clowns that get along fine. And a yellow watchmen gobie how many tangs can i add to a 180g and types of tangs? What type of tangs will not out grow the 180g system?

hollabacknow8557 Says:

Dec 25, 2011 - ps i heard dwarf angels were not reef safe? Is that true or false? And i understand you saying to add clownfish, dwarf angels, gobies and blennies but how many of each than tangs last. But how many of each that you named including the tangs?

lafishguy Says:

Dec 25, 2011 - hey H, some angels may nip more than others, its all about individual personality. I dont know how many of all the items you can add. unless you have quarantine tanks on-hand it may come down to whats available to you at that time.

smilelml789 Says:

Dec 26, 2011 - Hey Jim do you have a video on your tank?

lafishguy Says:

Dec 26, 2011 - hey S, see Episode 53.

hollabacknow8557 Says:

Dec 26, 2011 - thats what im asking lafishguy. Im trying to ask you which tangs will not outgrow the 180g tank. Thats what im trying to find out if i decide to get 3 or 4 tangs to put into the tank which ones will not outgrow the 180g. I hear some tang dong grow longer but only wider

MriBackup Says:

Dave Schwartz Says:

Oct 16, 2012 - Jim, I love the series here. I wish you were in Florida right now. My water is brought to me and we get Zephyr Hills water. The told me it is phosphate free, but I have a Phosphate Remover in the bank of my tank. Very little algae. My Salfin Tang cleans the tank well. I do feed him Garlic dipped Seaweed select sheets.
