Nov 7, 2012 - We go t 2 aquatic turtles from a friend who wasnt looking after them properly, they were kept in shallow black water, it was awful. They now have all the correct things and are well fed. The problem that i have is they wont come out of the water and bask. They hide most of the time, one is a little more sociable, but the other just stays under the filter. We also have no idea of the sex of the turtles or there breed. Any suggestions?? Thanks Michelle

Jan 11, 2013 - make a video of them so i can see. if they stay under the filter it may be because there not shure what it is. if your turtle dosent bask it can be because its scared of the new ground or not used to it. you may not be able to tell sex untill they reach aduldhood. sighns for males are pointer noses longer nailes and flat or tucked in plastron (bottom shell) females have more round noses and short nailes with plastron sticking out or flat. hope this helps.
