However, it is being destroyed by illegal fishing.
More than 60 fishermen have been arrested for using explosives and poison to guarantee themselves a good catch.

Jun 3, 2012 - I had the extreme pleasure of snorkeling off the "pink" beach on Komodo Island. It was spectacular! My friends, who are guides in the park, fight this on a daily basis. Thank you Arie, Tian and their supporters! They tell me there are not nearly enough park rangers and boats to patrol the park. The Indonesian government has to do more! This has to be stopped or humans will destroy yet another incredible natural treasure!
